What is Zalgo Text?

Zalgo text is a form of text that appears corrupted, glitchy, or possessed. It's created by stacking Unicode combining characters above, below, and through regular text characters. The result is text that seems to be "dripping" or "glitching" in a creepy, supernatural way.

How It Works

Unicode includes special "combining characters" that are designed to modify the character they follow. Zalgo text abuses this by adding many combining characters to each letter:

Combining characters above: Diacritical marks that appear above letters
Combining characters below: Marks that extend below the baseline
Combining characters through: Strikethrough-style marks

Origin of the Name

Zalgo is a fictional entity from internet horror fiction, depicted as an ominous, destructive force.
