How to Use HTML Entities
HTML entities are used to display special characters that have special meaning in HTML or characters that aren't on your keyboard. There are three ways to write an entity:
1. Named Entity
The most readable format using descriptive names:
© produces © (copyright symbol)
< produces < (less than sign)
€ produces € (euro sign)
2. Decimal Code
Uses decimal numeric character references:

< produces < (less than sign)
€ produces € (euro sign)
3. Hexadecimal Code
Uses hexadecimal numeric character references:

When to Use HTML Entities
- Reserved characters: <, >, &, and " must be encoded to display properly
- Special symbols: Copyright (©), trademark (™), currency symbols (€, £, ¥)
- Mathematical symbols: Multiplication (×), division (÷), plus-minus (±)
- Typographic characters: Em dash (—), en dash (–), ellipsis (…)
- Greek letters: Alpha (α), beta (β), pi (π), omega (ω)
- Arrows: Left (←), right (→), up (↑), down (↓)
